A Word From Our President

Hey all, by now I hope that you have all shaken off the cobwebs of the winter. As Vice President Rusty Rinehart will tell you I always take a couple of weeks for me to get my feet firmly planted on the floor. I will say that every instance that you can get started early helps you infinitely as the Semester goes on. In my experience with ECE it starts out slow and ramps up hard! I have found that finding a team or group to work with has irreversibly changed my life. I have always tried to create communities around me. My study group has made me a better student, a better friend, and a better leader. Engineering is the absolute hardest degree in this entire University. For those ECE major's out there, ECE is one of the harder degrees. Nothing about engineering is solo, these classes are hard. Work on building a team you can work with. It will make your life that much better. Remember you are not alone. If you need help please reach out to us. Myself, Vice President Rusty, Treasurer Ary, Webmaster David or any of our officers. Look for our Lab Hours to be released and come down and hang out with us in the IEEE room!

A Word From Our Treasurer

Oh, nice. I get one of these now. Anywho, hey guys, I'm Ary Nath. I'm the guy in charge of funds for the chapter, and I help get projects like our soldering workshops the funding they need. Besides IEEE, I'm also currently working in Tosiron Adegbija's (Tosi) lab doing some fun research combining memory and compute. Here's a cool fact: if you're into research and you're an ECE major, most of the papers you will find are in IEEE conferences. And as a UA student, you get *free* access to all those papers and conference proceedings. See: Link! and log in with your NetID. You also get access to IEEE's monthly magazine, IEEE Spectrum.
Here's some tips that I've picked up over my time here at UA: ask questions, ask questions, and ask questions. Yes, even if there's a voice in your head asking if you're being dumb, you should still ask. You'll be surprised by how many people (like 99.999% of the time) will be happy to answer. Help is out there if you ask for it, and in engineering and especially ECE, help is necessary to succeed both in the short or long term.
Feel free to email me using the email in my bio or DM me on Discord at DaRoast#5732.
